AAAAHHHH!

It's one thing to be awake all night because of a great conversation, or great sex, or great inspiration … but to be awake for NO FUCKING REASON? Fuck. Insomnia. Straight. To. Hell.

Some help from LifeHacker maybe? Or how about some good old sheep counting?

    Was Al Pacino there?

    That's what alcohol's for!

@Becca: Yeah, I should have brought my change jar and camera upstairs, instead of my iphone. lol

@Nick B.: Will check out the Lifehacker article, but I think it's just temporary stress. Haven't got a good night's sleep since a friend almost killed himself on his snowmachine Friday night… which I suppose is all the more reason to try and find a solution, since he's unlikely to be up and about for quite a while yet.

@Jack: Not that I noticed, and I think the dogs would have barked if anyone came in. ;-)

@Zef: Yeah, well that's the funny thing … the friend in the hospital is also my main drinking buddy … so the lack of drinking might have as much to do with it as the stress. lol (That said, I didn't sleep too well the night I did drink either…)

@smartypants: I should be so blessed! Maybe if I make spaghetti sauce tonight before I go to sleep?

i've always found that reading makes me tired, when i read in a fully reclined position (ie: lying down).

also, you could try taking melatonin.

@smartypants: Do you think I get docked points if I use crumbles italian sausage?

@grizzlybear: See, I can stay up reading all night. I probably would have done better in school if that weren't the case. ;-) But melatonin! Don't know why I didn't think of that. I have a couple bottles of it around. Thanks! :-)

I don't know if this helps, but I've had trouble sleeping all my life. It sucks, but you're not alone I guess.

  13. alphabitch said:

@deeesseee: The melatonin actually really helped the one night … have you tried it?

At one point I was prescribed some pills for it, but they had the side-effect that it made it incredibly hard for someone else (or an alarm) to wake me up. By that time I had gotten so used to it I didn't care as much, so I dropped them.
